Meet Your Counselors

Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. If you don’t listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won’t tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff.

My name is Cecilia Ballardo-Porter “Mrs. Porter”. I received my Bachelor's degree from UC Irvine and studied Psychology and Social Behavior. I started my professional career working at the Admissions and Outreach office at UC Irvine. I loved helping students pursue their educational goals so I decided to get my Master’s Degree from Azusa Pacific University to become a school counselor.  I have been a counselor for 18 years but have been at Oak Ave Intermediate for 10 years.   I also speak Spanish.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two dogs.  We enjoy evening walks and traveling.

My name is Deanne Sciarrotta. I grew up in Temple City and my four children and I all graduated from Temple City schools. I was very active in the PTA, AYSO, and Little League while my children were growing up and truly appreciate all the programs that our stellar community and award winning schools provide for youth. It is a privilege to serve Temple City families and I look forward to working with our students and their families at Oak Avenue this year. In my free time, I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, surfing, and spending time with my family and friends. I also have a little therapy dog named Duke who visits children with me at local hospitals on the weekend.
